Let Us Hasten To Repent

Death may come upon us at any time,

and it is our last deed that counts most.

Put together, these two realities make it clear that we must continually repent for our sins and that it is utter foolishness to put off repentance for another day.

In relation to this point, there is an interesting story related about two brother.
One of them, who lived on the top floor of a house they shared together,
was a pious worshiper, the other , who lived on the ground floor,
was a prolific doer of evil deeds.
The former was confident in fact, a little too confident and self-complacent for his own good.
He actually desired that the devil should try to tempt him, so that he could resist temptation and soar to higher levels of righteousness.

One day, the devil did appear before him, perhaps in the form of man (it is not mentioned in the narration). The devil said, " So very sad that you have spent 40 years inhibiting the satisfaction of your desires and tiring your body in worship. You have 40 more years left to  live, you know, why don't you enjoy yourself and follow your lusts for a while. Then you can always repent and return to worship later on. After all, Allah is Most -Forgiving, Most Merciful".

The worshiper thought to himself, " I will go down to my brother on the first floor, and I will join him in the pursuit of pleasure for 20 years. Then, in the last 20 years of my  life, I will repent to Allah and worship Him".He then began to descend the stairs to the first floor.

Meanwhile, his brother was going through a transformation of his own. He thought to himself, " I wasted away my entire life in sin. My brother, the worshiper, will enter Paradise, while I will enter the Hell-fire. By Allah, I will indeed repent, go up to my brother , and join him, for as long as I live, in the worship of Allah. Perhaps, Allah will then forgive me".

He ascended the stairs, with the intention of repenting to Allah, while his brother was descending with the intention of leading a life of sin. The latter slipped on one of the stairs, tumbled down, and knocked down his brother. Both of them died.

I mentioned it earlier, and I'll mention it here again, It is of course,
the last deed that counts most.

The Lingering Pain Of Sinning

To be sure,
every single one of us is a sinner.
But what distinguishes some from others is that some people feel no remorse for past sins, while others feel a great deal of remorse.
The latter group repents and continually strives to improve,
while the former group sits back self-complacently,
going through the motions of life without appreciating the significance of their actions.
An example of such a person is the noble Companion,Sa'id bin Amir.
During the caliphate of Umar bin Al-Khattab, Sa'id bin Amar was the governor of Hims, a city in Ashsham.
When Umar visited hims to see how things were going there, he was met by a large group of people who began to complain to him about Sa'id.
Basically, they found fault with Sa'id in 4 matters.

First, they said,he would not come out to them until mid-morning.
Second, he would refuse to answer any caller during the night.
Third, once a month, he would stay away from the people.
Fourth, every once in a while, Sa'id would faint and lose consciousness for no apparent reason.

The leader of the believers asked Sa'id to respond to their complaints.
In regard to the first complaint, Sa'id explained that he had no servant and that, every morning, he had to crush his own wheat in order to make a bread. As soon as he would finish making his bread,he said,he would then go out to serve the people.
As for not answering any callers during the night, he said that he dedicated his days to serving the people, and his nights to worshiping Allah.

As for not going out to the people once a month, he explained that he had only one garment and that he washed it once a month and had to then wait until it dried.

As for passing out every so often, Sa'id gave this explanation,
"When I was a polytheist, I witnessed the brutal execution of Habib Al-Ansari in Makkah. I saw how the Quraish cut up his flesh (little by little).
They said (to Habib),
"Do you testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God?" "Yes," Habib replied. "I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God."
Musaylamah was visibly angry. "And do you testify that I am the Messenger of God?" He was almost insisting, rather than questioning. "My ears have been blocked against hearing what you claim," replied Habib.

Every time I remember that day and how I refrained from helping Habib - for I was a polytheist and did not believe in Allah, the All-Might- I begin to think that Allah Azza Wa Jall will never forgive me. It is then I (faint) , O leader of the Believers.

For a sincere person, sin is painful, its pain lingers in his heart for many years, very often until the day he/she dies.

Kembara Hidayat

It may be long and it may be tiring to stay on the track as a good Muslims, I always remind myself,

"if the end destination is definite,It’s super worth it to keep struggling!"

When I attach to the impossible, it's hard to stay hopeful. This is how do I keep myself to stay strong in this "kembara hidayat", I will search a quotes about Islam, listen to Islamic song, read Islamic blog/page in face-book such as : yasmin mogahed, prof.dr.muhaya, zon kuliah, hamasah as-syabab, aku bukan superman, angel pakai gucci, tarbiyah sentap & etc, stay positive, optimist, and don't forget to Ask Him (Allah S.W.T).When problems are so big and our strength is no longer enough to carry them, don't give up! because, where our strength ends, the Grace of ALLAH begins.

"Some flowers grow best in the sun, others do well in the shade. Allah always knows what is best for us, so He puts us where we grow the best."

Lari lah. Tetapi lari lah dgn ucapan istighfar di bibirmu.
" أستغفر الله "

When all things went dark and you search for a light to see things clearly that light is HIDAYAT
you don't wait for it,you search for it.

"Verily, We showed him the way (hidayat), whether he be grateful (syukur) or ungrateful (kufur). "
(Al - Insan 76.03).

Thus we have no excuses to say a word that Allah has not give me hidayat so im still waiting.

I thank Allah

photo credit to : hazirah hamzah

I thank Allah,

For letting some people into my life that they have taught me some valuable lessons,
It's so true that every person we meet is either a blessing or a lesson.
I could count with my fingers the number of persons who are really a blessing in my life.

Have you heard people saying that life is a journey?
Sometimes life is like the journey you have when walking along a street...
All the human beings in your life are the passers by.
The only one who always walks by your side is He who created us.
We shall never forget that simple fact for He is immortal and we..
the souls that death can touch, eventually will return to Him.

I thank Allah,

For telling me things through people
People taught me that seeking happiness from people is exhausting except from Allah,
People don't intend to understand & listen except Allah,
Love is a give and take relationship except the love of Allah,
Friends are judgmental expect those who befriend you for the sake of Allah,
Words are just words till you act,
Expect disappointments from people but not Allah for each time Allah doesn't grant your prayers,
He is planning for something better & relying upon Allah alone means putting your life in Good Hands.

There are more..
But I'm grateful for some of the truths He has showed me through people for all the bittersweet facts are the ones that make me grow.

In memory

10 Dzul-Hijjah 1433 AH, the day that really test my family's sacrifice.
Hopefully this strengthen our ukhuwah for the sake of Allah.
May the experience bring us closer to Allah.
Rabbuna Yusahhil.Ameen.

Umat ibn Al Khattab (Radhi Allahu anhu) says :

"If Allah S.W.T  strikes me with a calamity,I will thanks Allah for four things:

-That test was not in my deen,
-The calamity could have been worse,
-Its an expiation for my sins,
- Any loss after loosing the messenger of Allah (Sallal lahu allehi wa sallam) is nothing."

So,

Whatever issues from Allah is by definition Beautiful even if we cannot see the that Beauty,
when Allah test our faith with affliction.
